Kristen Welch – Blog Elevated 2014 Keynote Speaker

Sometimes you start a blog and never dream of where it will take you. For Kristen Welch it has taken her to Africa to impact the lives of young pregnant women. Let Kristen Welch inspire you at Blog Elevated to Use Your Blog to Change the World.

Kristen Welch began to blog about her life on in 2007. Over the years, Kristen has grown a vast following of moms who identify with her real, often funny, and always inspiring writing.

In 2010, Kristen traveled with Compassion International to Kenya on a blogging trip to write about poverty in the slums. That experience turned her world upside down, and as a result, she and her family founded a non-profit called Mercy House Kenya. The organization funds maternity centers in Kenya, operated by indigenous staff, that offers hope and a home to pregnant teens living in extreme poverty. Mercy House also works to empower women all over the world through fair trade product creation resulting in employment.

Kristen’s second book, Rhinestone Jesus: Saying Yes to God When Sparkly Safe Faith Is No Longer Enough was released in May 2014 and she is under contract for another book which will be released in late 2015. She is also one of Dayspring’s (in)Courage writers, a HuffPost Parents contributor, and a monthly columnist to Lifeway’s ParentLife magazine.

Kristen’s blog following continues to grow, and many of the readers financially support the work of Mercy House. When she and her family aren’t traveling to Kenya, Kristen and her husband and their three children live in Texas, where they enjoy going to football games and flea markets and trying new restaurants
